Overview

For Starquest (Cosmic Game), I designed the visual identity and core assets for a top-down mobile shooter. I developed a modular ship-building system with tiered weapon upgrades to visually drive player progression. To ensure mobile readability, I utilized high-contrast silhouettes and vibrant, nebula-themed backgrounds. I addressed the challenge of scale in 2D by creating massive "out-of-bounds" hazards, delivering a full suite of production-ready mobile assets.

The Concept

Starquest is a fast-paced mobile shooter centered on deep-space combat and starfighter customization. The visual direction emphasizes high-impact action, using bold ship designs and saturated VFX—including muzzle flash breakdowns and projectile trails—to provide tactile, immediate feedback during intense dogfights.

The Execution

The pipeline prioritized "The Read" for small screens, featuring a comprehensive library of modular parts that visually communicate power scaling. I designed diverse environments ranging from planetary surfaces to debris fields, using mechanical junk and narrative-driven hazards to add scale and depth to the top-down maps.
